Apple has finally decided to bring over its HomePod lineup in Malaysia, debuting the speakers in the country years after their initial launch. Specifically, the tech giant is offering up its 2nd gen HomePod as well as the mini version, which was introduced way back in 2020.
The flagship HomePod speaker comes with a touch control panel on top as well as having Siri integrated into the device. It runs on the S7 chipset, the same one found in the Apple Watch Series 7, and is equipped with the company’s in-house U1 ultra-wideband chip for the Handoff feature, which lets you tap the speaker with your iPhone or iPad to transfer audio. The speaker also scans the room in real time to tune the acoustics for better performance.
Meanwhile, the mini version is very similar to the standard model but in a much smaller form-factor. Just like the regular HomePod, it has Siri, stereo pair capability, an intercom feature, Handoff, and is fitted with a temperature and humidity sensor. This smaller variant, however, lack support for spatial audio and room sensing.
The HomePod will be sold for RM1,549 while the mini will retail at RM529. Both speakers will be available for purchase through the brand’s website starting 10 May 2024.
