The vivo X100 series was first revealed in its home market of China in November last year, and making their way to our shores earlier in January. But it looks like the series is getting a mid-generation upgrade, in the form of the vivo X100s, complete with its own Pro and Ultra variants. And these may be getting their own unveiling as soon as next month.
GSMArena reports that the vivo X100s family will be moving away from the curved screens and back of the X100 in favour of a flatter design overall. That being said, the report notes that the curves are not completely gone, as the rear glass panel is still a 2.5D piece of glass.
The camera setup at the back of the vivo X100s is also claimed to be the same as the X100. If true, this would mean a 50MP main + 64MP telephoto + 50MP wide angle setup. From the images accompanying the report, the camera island holding these sure do look identical.
Also claimed in the report is that the vivo X100s will be sporting a MediaTek Dimensity 9300 Plus chipset, which would make it mid-generation upgrade over the X100 with its Dimensity 9300 chip. Unfortunately, no other details on its spec sheet were included.
The vivo X100s line which, as mentioned, may include its own Pro and Ultra variants, are claimed to be getting their launch in May. Considering similar rumours with the base X100 line, and the way it ended up not having a Pro Plus variant, it remains to be seen if this next announcement will actually involve three phones rather than just two.
