Last week saw the renders of the HMD Pulse and it Pro variant making their way online via serial leakster @OnLeaks. The series has since made their official debut, revealing that there is a third member of the family in the form of a Plus model. Despite the three different designations though, there are more similarities between them – down to the way they look – than differences.
To start, all three models of the HMD Pulse series come with a 6.65-inch HD+ screen with a 90Hz refresh rate, and a Unisoc T606 chipset. RAM and storage is where these devices really get distinct, as the base model has a 4GB + 64GB configuration, with the Plus model getting bumped to 4GB + 128GB. The Pro variant has a 6GB + 256GB config instead. Their batteries are dubbed QuickFix replaceable batteries, rated at 5,000mAh. The base and Plus models have a charging rate of 10W, with the Pro getting pushed up to 20W.
Another differentiating factor of the HMD Pulse series is their camera setups. Starting with the base model, this has a 13MP main camera and an 8MP front-facing shooter. Moving up to the Plus model sees this going up to 50MP and 8MP respectively, with the Pro model having a 50MP shooter for both the front and the rear. All three devices look to have another lens at the back, but the company has not shared what these are.
Interestingly, 9to5Google reports that there is another phone not part of the Pulse series that got announced, called the HMD Vibe. The report indicates that this may be a US exclusive, coming with a 6.56-inch 90Hz screen, a Qualcomm Snapdragon 680 chipset, 6GB of RAM, a 4,000mAh battery and a 13MP main camera. In said market, this will be priced at US$149 (~RM713).
But going back to the HMD Pulse series, these phones are not listed in the Malaysian page of the company’s website. But while they are listed on the international site, no prices were provided for them. But going with the report mentioned above, the base model Pulse is priced at EUR139 (~RM712), while the Plus and Pro models have EUR159 (~RM814) and EUR179 (~RM917) price tags respectively.
