Fujifilm today has launched the Instax Mini 99 in Malaysia. It is touted to be the brand’s most advanced instant camera yet, featuring an all-new Colour Effect Dial that offers users with six built-in effect filters, brightness control, and various shooting modes.
The Instax Mini 99 sports a classic boxy design with leather-like matte texture that harkens back to cameras of yesteryear. It also features a physical lens dial that users turn to select shooting mode, as well as turn knobs that provides a tactile experience.
Features-wise, Fujifilm’s new instant camera comes with the aforementioned Colour Effect Dial, offering six distinct built-in filters. These include Faded Green, Warm Tone, Light Blue, Soft Magenta, Sepia and Light Leak, which are made possible through internal LED lights selectively illuminating the film. Furthermore, there’s also a Manual Vignette Switch that instantly adds a vignette effect to shots.
In addition, the Instax Mini 99 boasts four shooting modes catering to various scenarios and creative desires. These include Indoor Mode for low-light conditions, Sports Mode to capture fast-paced action, Double Exposure Mode for overlaying images, and Bulb Mode which enables users to control the duration of the shutter for prolonged exposures.
Utilising a zone focus system, the camera offers three preset ranges: Macro (0.3m to 0.6m), Standard for distances in between, and Landscape (3.0m to infinity). To enhance versatility, it includes a self-timer, flash, and a Base Grip facilitating tripod mounting.
As with most of Fujifilm’s modern instant cameras, the new Mini 99 also features the ability to wirelessly connect to its Instax Up! app for mobile devices. This enables users to easily store photos digitally in one place and share them with friends.
The Instax Mini 99 uses a removable NP-70S battery, which enables it to continuously shoot through 10 film packs, or so Fujifilm claims. There’s no in-camera charging, so you’re required to utilise the included tiny USB-C charging cradle for power top-ups. That said, having multiple battery packs helps to extend the camera’s usage.
The Fujifilm Instax Mini 99 is priced at RM928, and is only available in a single black colourway. Those interested can now purchase the new instant camera via Fujifilm’s website, its official online store on Shopee, as well as authorised resellers nationwide.
