Qualcomm has already confirmed that it will be launching the Snapdragon 8 Gen 4, its next flagship mobile SoC, in October and now we have an idea of which phone the chip will debut in. According to reliable leakster Yogesh Brar, Xiaomi has exclusive first launch rights for the upcoming processor.
If this is to be believed, then we might see the Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 making its first appearance with the Xiaomi 15. Brar also claims that the OnePlus 13 and the iQOO 13 will follow suit, although not necessarily in that order. Given that last year, we saw the Xiaomi 14, OnePlus 12, and iQOO 12 launch as one of the first to feature the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3, it wouldn’t be a surprise to see a similar initial lineup.
Of course, the upcoming phones will likely be unveiled in their home market first before getting a global release in a few weeks or months following the Chinese launch. There’s also a chance that the Xiaomi 15 Pro could be a China-exclusive device, as what we’ve seen with the Xiaomi 14 Pro.
The Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 will be based on TSMC’s 3nm process and will include the new Oryon CPU cores found in the Snapdragon X Elite chipsets. Rumours purport that it will contain six of these cores as well as an upgraded neural engine, could see it offering more advanced on-device generative AI capabilities.
