When Razer released the Viper V2 Pro two years ago, it was just about the best gaming mouse money can buy, at the cost of trimming off a lot weight, literally and metaphorically speaking. Then there’s the DeathAdder V3 Pro, which is essentially the same mouse but with a different ergonomic profile. Now, there’s the Razer Viper V3 Pro, which looks to be making a list small improvements over the V2.
The biggest improvement that the new mouse has over the old one though is the fact that the brand’s HyperPolling Dongle is now included in the package. This means not having to pay an additional RM149 to benefit from higher polling rates. Well, sort of, as the Razer Viper V3 Pro comes with a price hike over the predecessor model on account of the other ergonomic improvements, but we’ll get to that in a bit. This also means that you can now disregard the AA battery-powered Viper V3 HyperSpeed released last year.
Other improvements with the Razer Viper V3 Pro over the V2 Pro include a slightly better battery life at polling rates lower than 8k Hz, and an even lower weight than before at 54g. Yes, the white colourway is still 1g heaver, in case you’re wondering, but it looks like the brand is doing away with what it calls the eggshell texture from the previous model too. There’s also the new generation Focus Pro 25K optical sensor, as opposed to the previous gen’s 20K sensor.
Then we get to the other not so quantifiable improvements of the Razer Viper V3 Pro, which includes things like an updated side button design for better accessibility. Of note is the combination of a ring finger ledge and more pronounced finger grooves for better grip. This sounds like a small change, but if you’ve used the V2 Pro for hours of playing games like Darktide and The Division 2, it’s an improvement that, on paper at least, is much appreciated.
The Razer Viper V3 Pro is priced at RM829, and you can order one from the brand’s official online store, linked below. Like the two other recent releases – being the Kishi Ultra and the Firefly V2 Pro, there’s an option to pay more for a faster delivery window if you want.
