Infinix may soon be introducing yet another smartphone to the Malaysian market with the Smart 8. The phone was launched late last year and is the vanilla version of the Smart 8 Pro, offering a “Magic Ring” feature that is similar to Apple’s Dynamic Island.
The Smart 8 received SIRIM certification on 22 April 2024 with the model number X6525. While the company has not yet announced the local arrival of the device, the recent listing hints that a launch will likely happen here soon.
Regarding its specs, it sports a 6.6-inch 720p LCD display with a 90Hz refresh rate and a peak brightness of 500 nits. Under the hood, the entry-level phone runs on a Unisoc T606 chipset paired with up to 4GB of RAM and 128GB of expandable storage, although we don’t know yet which configurations will be offered in Malaysia. For connectivity, it supports Wi-Fi 5, and Bluetooth 5.0.
On the photography side, the phone features a 13MP main camera on the back alongside a depth sensor, as well as an 8MP selfie shooter housed in the front punch hole cutout. Powering the budget device is a 5,000mAh battery with support for 10W charging. For reference, it is priced at INR7,199 (~RM412) in India, but given that the Pro version already retails at RM399, we can expect a lower price tag here.
