HONOR recently launched a whole lineup of new products and one of it is an update to its MagicBook X 16 laptop. The 2024 version of the 16-inch computer comes with an identical design and mostly similar specs, but it gets a processor bump and a more affordable price tag.
The new MagicBook X 16 gets the same 16-inch 1920×1200 IPS display with a 16:10 aspect ratio and a peak brightness of 300 nits. What’s new is the 12th Gen Intel Core i5-12450H, which is a major upgrade from the i5-1235U found in its predecessor, but it still comes in a single configuration of 8GB of RAM and 512GB of storage. With the new CPU, it can switch between a 35W smart mode and a 40W high-performance mode.
Oddly enough, powering everything is a smaller 45Wh battery, down from the 2022 model’s 60Wh battery, which charges via a 65W USB-C power adapter. This brings the estimated battery life down from 12 hours for video playback to only nine hours.
For ports, the laptop is equipped with a single USB-C port, two USB-A 3.2 Gen 1 ports, an HDMI port, and a headphone jack. As for connectivity, it supports up to Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth 5.1, and even NFC. Moreover, the brand fitted it with two speakers and a 720p webcam.
The smaller battery seems to be a concession for the brand to cut down the price of the laptop. Available from 25 April, the MagicBook X 16 2024 retails at only RM2,999, which is RM500 cheaper than its predecessor. You’ll be able to purchase it through the company’s online store, Shopee, Lazada, and TikTok stores, as well as authorised retailers.
