The iQOO Z9 and Z9x were spotted in the SIRIM database recently, usually hinting at a local launch soon. The company has since confirmed this, but stopped short of providing any additional details.
An announcement to the effect was made via the vivo sub-brand’s Facebook page. While this announcement only broadly mentions the iQOO Z9 series broadly, the company mentions both the Z9 and Z9x specifically in a note to members of the media. Also mentioned this way is that the series will be made available in two colour variants.
Going back to the Facebook post though, one of the hashtags included mentions the Qualcomm Snapdragon 7 Gen 3. This suggests that the model making its way to our shores will be similar to the one making its debut in its home market next week.
A recent leak suggests that this upcoming version of the iQOO Z9 will come with a 6.78-inch 144Hz screen, a 6,000mAh battery with 80W charging. The Z9x, on the other hand, may sport a 6.72-inch 120Hz screen, a Snapdragon 6 Gen 1 chipset, and a 6,000mAh battery but with 40W charging instead.
Getting back to the local launch of the iQOO Z9 series, the only thing we have to work with is the usual “coming soon”. At best, we will see a local unveiling alongside its Chinese launch on 24 April, or more realistically shortly after. Worth noting also that since the media note made no mention of the Turbo variant, it’s unclear if it will be an available option locally.
