Insta360 has just dropped the X4, its newest 360-degree action camera from the X series. The latest addition doesn’t get a lot of shiny new features with its bigger price tag, but it does include notable upgrades including a higher-resolution sensor, a removable lens guard, and a significantly larger battery.
Let’s start with the highlight. While the X4 still has a 1/2” sensor, the camera can now record 360-degree videos at an 8K resolution at 30fps. This also translates to large 72MP photos coupled with AI denoising. For slow motion shots, the camera can do 60fps at 5.7K and even 100fps at a 4K resolution.
If you’re not into the whole 360-degree thing, you can also use the X4 as a regular action cam with Single-Lens mode. This feature allows you to record at up to 4K60fps. Of course, there’s also the Me Mode feature that automatically frames the subject and keeps the selfie stick invisible.
On the protection side, lens guard can now be switched out and the 2.5-inch touchscreen is layered with Corning Gorilla glass. The X4 can also handle going underwater for up to 33ft on its own or down to 164ft with an Invisible Dive Case, with it being able to withstand temperatures as low as -20ºC. For battery life, it has a larger 2,290mAh capacity that the company claims can last 75 minutes with 8K30fps recording and 135 minutes with 5.7K30fps recording.
The X4 is available on the company’s Shopee store, with a starting price of RM2,499 for the standalone camera and RM2,599 to include the invisible selfie stick. Moreover, you can add-on a 64GB memory card for an extra RM50 and a 128GB memory card for an additional RM100.
