There have been many reports in the past about Spotify potentially bringing high bitrate, lossless audio onto the service but sadly, that hasn’t really panned out till now. Recently, however, that promise of sweet, sweet 24-bit, 44.1kHz, Hi-Fi quality on the platform has resurfaced, and some reports believe that the promised day may be soon. And in a yet new and unknown form.
According to a post on Reddit by redditor Hypixely, Spotify has seemingly given up on the “Supremium”. That was the plan the streaming service was allegedly planning on rolling out last year but at the time of our report, 2024 was three months away. So, no new subscription tier, then.
New information about Supremium, Lossless and more

In its place, Hypixely claims that Spotify will be launching Music Pro. The difference between this and Supremium is that instead of being branded as a “plan”, the streaming service will market it as an “add-on”. Given how tight-lipped the service has been on the subject, there is, unsurprisingly, no details about the price, but the redditor was able to dig up other bits and pieces of the new feature.
For a start, Music Pro will apparently have a new button on the sidebar called “Your Music Pro”, similar to the “Your Plan” button. The next additions of the add-on would be Advanced Mixing tools, a new filter library that will separate tracks and music based on mood, activity, and genre.
But the most important part of this add-on would be what we have mentioned at the start of this article: the inclusion of Lossless audio tracks, which again, would be a first for Spotify. Specifically, tracks streaming at up to 24-bit 44.1kHz FLAC. And like its rivals Tidal and Apple Music, Music Pro will supposedly display the playback quality of the track.
Other features that Hipixely says they can confirm as coming to Spotify Music Pro are headphones enhancements and optimisation. Specifically, the streaming service app will allow you to select your headphones model and “lift your headphones’ performance using patented technology”. This, by the way, will supposedly work with AirPods.
At the time of writing, Spotify has not commented on the existence of Music Pro.
