There have been a couple of sprinkles where leaks of the Sony Xperia 1 VI is concerned, involving its rear camera setup as well as its RAM configuration. A new one has surfaced in the form of renders, showing off the way the phone looks. But if these are accurate, it would mean that the series would be losing one of its most identifiable features.
These renders of the Sony Xperia 1 VI come courtesy of @OnLeaks, which were also shared to Android Headlines. On one hand, these show that the phone will, for the most part, look very similar to the phones of the series that came before. Items in this list include the ZEISS branding, the 3.5mm audio jack, and the dedicated shutter button.
But with the dimensions of 161.9 x 74.5 x 8.4 mm, this suggests that it will be a little thicker, but more importantly also a little shorter and wider. Which may lead to the screen ending up with a 19.5:9 ratio instead of the series’ staple 21:9. Separately, FoneArena reported on a claim by zackbucks on Weibo that the Sony Xperia 1 VI will also be losing its 4K screen in favour of one in 2K.
Of course, the exact resolution is probably not something that anyone would be able to tell from a render. In the same vein, it remains to be seen if the display aspect ratio change extrapolated from the leaked Sony Xperia 1 VI render is indeed accurate. The usual small dose of salt applies until an official announcement by the company.
