Sony has revealed that planned for an announcement stream to take place on its own official YouTube channel later this week. Specifically, it is currently scheduled to happen on 12 April, and at midnight local time at that too from the looks of it.
The title of the stream, as the company puts it, is “Enjoy the Ultimate Vibe”. While that doesn’t say much on its own, there’s an accompanying #ForTheMusic in the description of the scheduled video, pointing at the announcement being an audio product of some sort.
Also hinting at what may be announced is the word Ultimate in the name of the scheduled stream. Late last month, reporting for WinFuture, prominent leakster Roland Quandt claims that a Sony WH-ULT900 will be making its way into the market as a mid-range pair of wireless headphones. Its tagline is noted to be “Ultimate Power Sound”, which matches the title of the upcoming announcement stream.
Other details included in the report included that, while being a mid-ranged offering, it sits directly below the Sony WH-1000XM flagship series of headphones. Other items claimed to be part of the WH-ULT900 spec sheet include 40mm drivers, a 520mAh battery that provides up to 30 hours of listening time with ANC, or 50 hours without. It naturally comes with support for the brand’s own LDAC codec via Bluetooth 5.2, and the headphones reportedly weighs 255g.
Of course, while all the pieces look to fit quite nicely, there’s still a possibility that Sony ends up announcing something else entirely. Though it won’t be long before we find out for sure.
