Tesla has recently launched a new Supercharging Station at the Sunway Carnival Mall in the state of Penang. The facility is located at the mall’s valet parking area, with a total of four Superchargers that’s now available for use.
The newly opened Supercharging Station is the first of its kind in the northern region of Peninsular Malaysia. Its establishment supplements Tesla’s two existing Destination Charging stations in the state which are located at The Ship Campus in Batu Kawan and All Seasons Place that’s located in Penang Island. The former has a total of eight AC chargers, while the latter has four.
As with its other stations in Pavilion KL, Sunway Big Box Retail Park, Sunway Pyramid, Freeport A’Famosa Outlet and most recently at Gamuda Cove, the four chargers at Sunway Carnival Mall offer a peak efficiency of 250kW. Similarly, charging will cost you RM1.25/kWh, while a RM4 per minute penalty will be imposed if you fail to remove your vehicle once its battery is fully topped up.
However, Tesla notes that Sunway Carnival charges a parking fee of RM5 per hour from 9am to 2am daily, meaning that you’ll have to pay extra if you wish to utilise the location’s Supercharging Station. That said, the facility itself is available 24/7, so using it outside of the car park’s operating hours will exempt you from the charge.
