The public rollout of MyDigital ID has been postponed by two months, moving the registration date to May 2024. Initially, the government planned to open up the system for registrations online and through nationwide kiosks in March, but it has since been delayed.
Acting chief executive officer of My Digital ID Sdn Bhd, Mohd Mirza Mohamed Noor, explained that although the system was ready, the launch was delayed to allow for integration with various websites and mobile applications. He said that MyDigital logins have already been integrated with MySejahtera, MyGov, and HRMIS (the government’s human resources portal), with targets to complete integration with PADU by this month and then JPJ at a later date.
Moreover, financial institutions such as banks, insurance companies, and e-wallet providers will be able to integrate MyDigital ID in May for eKYC and transaction authorisation. “MyDigital ID is more than a platform; it’s a cornerstone of Malaysia’s digital future. Our goal is to empower Malaysians with a secure and seamless way to engage with digital services, safeguarding their privacy and security,” said the acting CEO.
In case you have not been keeping up, the new system serves as an online authentication method, providing Malaysian citizens access to various digital government services while also strengthening the security for online transactions. Through integration with other platforms, citizens can use such services without facing the hassle of multiple logins.
