OnePlus has announced the global rollout of one of its AI features to several devices, namely AI Eraser. The tool is one of three that the brand launched in China a couple of months ago, with the photo-editing feature being the first to roll out globally starting in April.
As you can guess, AI Eraser is very similar to what we’ve seen with the Photo Assist feature in Samsung’s Galaxy AI. It uses the brand’s proprietary large language model to allow users to easily remove any unwanted objects in photos, with generative AI filling in the gaps with context.
It is unclear whether the feature will be introduced in the form of a ColorOS update or just an update to the Photo Gallery app. Moreover, the company did not go into whether the editing is done on-device or it requires an internet connection to use servers.
AI Eraser is being rolled out to the OnePlus 12, OnePlus 12R, OnePlus 11, OnePlus Open, and the new Nord CE 4. It added that the firm plans to release even more AI features this year, so it is possible that we might see a wider rollout for its AI-powered article and call summary tools.
