Grab seems to have quietly rolled out a new feature that might help you get a faster ride, as long as you are willing to risk a higher fare. We found this new feature in the app that lets you book multiple types of rides simultaneously, increasing your chances of getting a driver.
The feature appears after you have booked a ride. It gives you the option to add more types of rides other than the one you chose. So for example, if you booked GrabCar Saver but you are in a hurry, you could add on JustGrab, GrabCar Plus, taxis, six-seaters, and so on.
You will then get the first available driver that accepts one of the rides you booked, so you may not get the cheapest option. This feature is clearly for those who are in a rush and willing to potentially pay one of the more costly fares instead of the cheapest one available.
As for the release of the feature, it does not seem to be a wide rollout just yet. Some people on our team have been able to use the feature since last week while others have not. We have reached out to the company for clarification.
