Back in February, ZTE unveiled the Flip 5G, its first-ever clamshell foldable phone. Placed under its nubia subsidiary, the phone features mid-range specs with a relatively affordable price tag, but the brand has yet to announce a launch in Malaysia. Despite that, the local market may see the clamshell soon as it has made a recent appearance on the SIRIM database.
Listed with the model number NX724J, the Flip 5G received SIRIM certification on 22 March 2024. This likely means that we can expect the foldable to arrive here in the near future, so stay tuned for any updates from the company.
To recap, the Flip 5G sports a 6.9-inch inner OLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate while the outer screen gets a circular 466×466 panel. The outside gets a 50MP main camera and a depth sensor while the inner display houses a 16MP selfie shooter.
Internally, the phone runs on a Qualcomm Snapdragon 7 Gen 1 chipset paired with 6GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage. Powering the flip phone is a 4,310mAh battery with support for 33W charging. It retails for US$599 (~RM2,843), so we can assume that it will be sold at a similar price point here.
