vivo has officially unveiled the X Fold3 series, its latest foldable smartphones. Succeeding the X Fold2, the new lineup comes in two variants, with the vanilla model being one of the lightest book-style foldable smartphones ever made and at 219g, it weights less than some regular flagship smartphones such as the iPhone 15 Pro Max (221g) and the Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra (232g).
Both phones get the same 8.03-inch LTPO AMOLED inner display and a 6.53-inch AMOLED outer display with a 120Hz refresh rate and a much higher peak brightness of 4,500 nits compared to its predecessor. The Pro model runs on the latest Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chipset while the standard version is fitted with the last-gen Snapdragon 8 Gen 2.
For imaging, the X Fold3 Pro is equipped with a custom V3 chip that assist the 50MP OmniVision OV50H sensor with OIS, a 50MP ultra-wide lens, and a 64MP telephoto lens with 3x optical zoom. As for the vanilla X Fold3, it features a 50MP Sony IMX920 main camera with OIS, the same 50MP ultra-wide, and a 50MP telephoto lens with 2x optical zoom. Both foldables house two 32MP selfie shooters.
Powering everything is a 5,500mAh battery with 80W wired charging for the Fold3 and a bigger 5,700mAh battery with 100W wired and 50W wireless charging for the Pro. Additionally, the Pro gets IPX8 water resistance and an under-display fingerprint scanner while the vanilla Fold3 only has an IPX4 rating with a side-mounted fingerprint sensor.
The X Fold 3 has a starting price of CNY7,000 (~RM4,579) while the base configuration for the Pro retails at CNY10,000 (~RM6,540). As of now, there is no word on Malaysian availability.
