Huawei has launched the Band 9, its latest smart band, alongside the nova 12 series. A successor to last year’s Band 8, you’ll be hard-pressed to find any differences from its predecessor aside from new colours, a new ambient light sensor for auto-brightness adjustments, and, oddly enough, reduced durability.
The Band 9 sports the same 1.47-inch AMOLED touch display with a single home button on the side. For connectivity, it supports Bluetooth 5.0 and BLE while its compatibility covers both Android and iOS. The smart band is water resistant up to 50 metres, meaning it can be worn while swimming, and can operate in temperatures between 0℃ to 35℃, which is a smaller range than the Band 8’s capability to survive from -10℃ to 45℃.
As with any smart wearable, it has sensors to track your heart rate, blood oxygen levels, sleep and stress levels, menstruation cycle, and more. For workouts, the Band 9 is equipped with over 100 sports mode including auto-detection of four common exercises, making it easy to keep track of your progress. On the battery side, nothing has changed since last year, with usage time ranging from nine to 14 days with an additional two days after five minutes of charging.
The Band 9 retails for RM219 and comes in five options with varying case colours and strap types. It is available now for pre-order on the brand’s website as well as its Shopee and Lazada stores. Customers can also get a discount of up to RM40 when pre-ordering.
