realme has officially launched the realme 12 in Malaysia, which is the vanilla model of the 12 series. It follows the arrival of the 12 Plus and 12 Pro Plus from last month, offering up the most affordable variant for the local market.
The realme 12 sports a 6.72-inch 1080p LCD display with a 120Hz refresh rate, a peak brightness of 950 nits, and Rainwater Smart Touch technology that allows you to use the screen while it’s wet. It takes up a flat design for both the display and the sides with a “Dynamic Button” on the side that is customisable. Under the hood, it runs on a MediaTek Dimensity 6100 Plus chipset with 8GB of RAM and up to 512GB of storage.
Imaging-wise, the entry-level device features a 108MP main camera and a depth sensor on the back, while the front houses an 8MP selfie snapper. It is powered by a 5,000mAh battery with support for 45W charging. For connectivity, it supports 5G, NFC, Wi-Fi 5, and Bluetooth 5.2, along with a 3.5mm headphone jack.
The realme 12 starts from RM1,099 for 8GB of RAM and 256GB of storage, while the variant with 512GB of storage goes for RM1,299. It can be purchased through the brand’s stores, authorised retailers, as well as its Lazada, Shopee, and TikTok stores. From 26 March to 30 April 2024, the phone comes with a free pair of wireless earbuds and an extended warranty.
