Samsung’s Galaxy AI feature, which was introduced alongside its Galaxy S24 smartphone line-up this year, is set to be available for the brand’s previous flagship devices later this month, with the exception of those released in 2022 and older. However, a new report by South Korean publication Naver is suggesting that the feature could also be coming to the Galaxy S22 series, though the process may take some time.
According to the news outlet, Samsung president and head of mobile experience business TM Roh told a general shareholders’ meeting that the company is actively looking for ways to bring Galaxy AI to its two-year-old flagship smartphones. He said the hardware on the Galaxy S22 series, despite not having significant differences with the Galaxy S23 FE, is not designed to support the features on-device AI functionalities, but noted that resources and efforts are being invested in order to make the integration possible.
Unfortunately, Roh did not mention when Samsung is planning to roll out Galaxy AI to the older flagship models during the meeting. Seeing that a lot of development is required, provided that Naver’s report is to be believed, it could take some time for the potential integration to be introduced.
Meanwhile, the same report also mentioned Roh confirming Samsung’s development on smart devices with rollable and slideable displays, with pre-launch steps like research and patents currently being steadily pursued. It is noted that the company is more cautious about launching new form factors and has no plans to introduce them to the market anytime soon.
