If you’re an iPhone user of recent years and have ever thought that the screen on the phone is too reflective, there’s potentially some good news if you’re looking to upgrade next year. A leakster claims that such a change is on the way for the iPhone 17.
MacRumors reports that Chinese leakster Instant Digital has claimed via Weibo that the new screen will be anti-reflective and more scratch resistant than the Ceramic Shield. For context, that’s the screen that’s been around since the iPhone 12. The leakster also claims that since the coating equipment had only been passed to the supply chain, so it could not make it for this year’s batch of iPhones.
That being said, the very same leakster also claims that the next-generation iPad Pro models will have this matte screen as an option, rather than being standard issue. And by next-generation, the leaker claims that it’s the one that will be announced pretty soon. Also worth mentioning that while the leaker implies that this will be an option for the Pro model Apple tablet, it’s uncertain if the Air models will be getting the same.
One can argue that it’s easier to work with larger screens than smaller ones in explaining the rollout discrepancy. Though it’s also unclear if it’s the same screen or coating that’s being used for both the iPhone and the iPad models. But that’s another punch of salt necessary until the alleged date of the tablets’ unveiling.
