Rumours of an entry-level Galaxy foldable smartphone from Samsung that’s expected to debut alongside the flagship models this year have been circulating around for months. In its recent report, Sisa Journal is claiming that the device in question will be considerably affordable, at the expense of downgraded components.
According to the South Korean publication, Samsung”s entry-level foldable smartphone will likely feature a chipset that’s a tier lower than the ones featured on the next-gen flagship Galaxy Fold and Flip, and the same can be said for its display and battery specifications. Interestingly, Sisa Journal claims that the device’s imaging system will be consistent with the other models, but is noted to only feature two cameras instead of three.
Now comes the more interesting detail from the report. Citing industry sources, the publication suggests that the more affordable model will cost less than US$800 (~RM3,7899). If true, the phone will retail at about half the starting price of Samsung’s Galaxy Fold5 flagship foldable (RM6,799), and closer in value to the base Galaxy S24 (~RM4,099).
As exciting as this sounds, bear in mind that any information concerning the alleged entry-level Galaxy foldable smartphone are still rumours at this time. Whether or not Samsung will actually debut such a device remains to be seen.
