If fintech is your thing, then you’re probably aware that gaming peripherals brand Razer has a fintech arm, known simply as Razer Fintech, as well as its B2B payments unit, Razer Merchant Services. These are going through an image change, as they have announced a rebranding, with the new name being Fiuu.
Of the rebrand, the company says that a name staring with F was chosen deliberately to reinforce its “focus on Fintech innovation”. This also comes with a brand motto of “Powering Future Payments”, with the aim “to revolutionise the way transactions are conducted”.
For the average user, this shouldn’t change the way you pay for things at all beyond a logo change. Judging from the rebranded website, Fiuu will still be supporting all the payment channels that it did before. But behind the scenes, the position of Chief Executive Officer is being passed from Lee Li Meng to Eng Sheng Guan, with the former also being promoted to executive chairman.
As part of the announcement, Lee says that the rebranding “allows the fintech business to continue its path independently from the Razer brand, which is gaming-focused”. Which makes a lot of sense, considering the confusion surrounding the Razer office that opened locally back in 2019.
