Microsoft has released a new feature to the Windows Insider program that allows you to up your game during those work video conferences. With the new feature, users can now use their Android device as a webcam for their Windows 11 laptop or desktop computer, similar to Apple’s implementation between iPhones and Macs.
To get things going, you will obviously need to a part of the Windows Insider program as well as installing the Link to Windows app on your mobile device. Then on your PC, go into the settings, head on to Bluetooth & devices > Mobile devices, and click on the “Manage devices” button. After that, allow your computer to have access to your Android device and it will show a successfully connected prompt once the link has been set up.
The feature can work with both Android phones and tablets as webcams with Windows 11 as long as they are running on Android 9.0 and up. It even allows you to switch between the back and front cameras of the device as well as pausing the stream during interruptions and add effects.
The company said that this feature is rolling out gradually across all Insider Channels on Windows 11. It added that your PC will get a Cross Device Experience Host update in the Microsoft Store, which is required for the feature to work.
