Back in January, Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman claimed that Apple is set to announce new models of the iPad Air, iPad Pro, and MacBook Air. Now, in another entry of the Power On newsletter, Gurman claims that these announcements will be made in a low-key manner, via an online press releases and videos rather than a whole spring launch event.
We’ve seen claims of such launches before, even if the timeline was a miss. This time, Gurman claims that this Apple online launch will see the release of a lot of the previously reported new stuff, from the 12.9-inch iPad Air to the M3 iPad Pros and their revamped Magic Keyboards. Also included in the list are the 13- and 15-inch MacBook Air models as well.
As for when this launch is actually going to happen, Gurman expects them to arrive in March or April. The reason for the conservative window is due to a “special version of iOS 17.4 with support for the new hardware” being scheduled for release at the end of this month. On the flip side, sources to MacRumors claim that Apple will be launching these products as soon as this week.
Also mentioned as being part of this batch of announcements is a new Apple Pencil. This presumably refers to the one rumoured to have interchangeable magnetic tips rather than the strange one which charges via USB-C. Which sounds like a lot of products to be announcing without a launch event. At any rate, we’ll keep an eye out for when the bitten fruit puts the details up on their official websites.
