New renders allegedly depicting the design of Apple’s forthcoming budget-friendly fourth generation iPhone SE model have made their way online via 91Mobiles. These images showcase a departure from the phone’s predecessors, embracing modern design features found on more recent models as recent as the iPhone 14.
One notable change is the transition to a larger 6.1-inch all-screen design with a notch and slimmer bezels, ditching the smaller 4.7-inch display and physical home button. Following modern iPhone designs, it is expected that the notch will feature Apple’s TrueDepth camera system, facilitating Face ID authentication for the first time on an SE model.
Additionally, it is believed that the fourth generation iPhone SE may have a USB-C port which, much like last year’s iPhone 15 series, replaces the longstanding Lightning port. This mirrors the EU’s recent directive, mandating a universal USB-C charging port for all smartphones by 2024.
The renders also indicate that the new iPhone SE will maintain a single rear camera, akin to its predecessors. Rumours suggest the Action Button, the customisable button that was introduced on the Pro variants of last year’s iPhone 15, will also be included on the budget-friendly model. In terms of dimensions, 91Mobiles suggests that the phone will closely resemble the iPhone 14, measuring at 147.7 x 71.5 x 7.7mm.
It should be noted that these newer renders clash with a separate leak shared by @ManjinBuOfficial earlier in February. Unlike the former, the latter suggests that the fourth generation iPhone SE may feature a floating Dynamic Island-styled notch instead.
Regardless, we highly advise to take either leak with a healthy dose of scepticism, especially considering that it will still be a long while until we get to see the phone. On that note, rumours are suggesting that Apple will only debut the fourth generation iPhone SE sometime next year.
