The iPad rumour mill has been among the wildest in recent times, especially where the iPad Air is concerned. There have been a few reports already claiming that the Apple tablet will come in two sizes – the usual 11 inches and another 12.9-inch model. Now, another report is corroborating this claim, complete with codenames to go with each one.
9to5Mac cites sources who claim that this year will see two iPad Air releases, codenamed J507 and J537. The former is noted to be the regular 11-inch model, while the latter would be the larger 12.9-inch addition to the line. These are noted to be releasing by the end of March, corroborating a Bloomberg report from last month.
Also mentioned in the report is the release of this year’s entry of iPad Pro tablets, which will also be released within the same window. With both tablet lines now having equivalent size options, the ones with the Pro moniker will be ever so slightly larger, but thinner due to OLED screens having fewer layers than LCD.
Closing out the report is the claims that “accessory makers are ramping up production of cases for the new iPads, which are expected to ship as early as next month”. This paints a pretty safe picture that the iPad Air, iPad Pro and MacBook Air will be unveiled next month, but continuous pinches of salt is still probably the better option.
