OPPO has announced that its new Reno11 series will soon be receiving some new software upgrades sprinkled with AI. Last month, we saw the flagship Find X7 series announced with generative AI features powered by AndesGPT, the company’s own large language model (LLM).
The Reno11 series will be receiving some of the generative AI features such as AI Eraser, which can intelligently remove objects in photos, as well as summarise call conversations. The latter will even automatically create to-do lists and reminders based on the content of the call. There is also a generative AI chatbot found in the Find X7, although it is unclear if this will make its way to the Reno phones.
According to the brand, it will start rolling out these AI features to the Reno11 series globally some time within the second quarter of 2024. To focus on further AI development, it has also established a new AI centre in China.
OPPO joins the list of phone companies racing to add on-device AI to their devices. Samsung has already introduce Galaxy AI while Apple will be rolling out its own take on generative AI later this year. OnePlus, the sister company of OPPO, has already introduced AI features to some of its flagship phones, but they remain exclusive to China.
