ZTE has announced its first ever vertical foldable smartphone, dubbed the Libero Flip. The clamshell device packs some modest mid-range specs in a package that is relatively affordable for the form factor.
To start with, the Libero Flip sports a large 6.9-inch internal AMOLED display with a 2790×1188 resolution and when closed, the phone offers a secondary circular display on the outside using a 1.43-inch AMOLED panel — the refresh rate for the screens are not disclosed. Inside, the phone runs on a Qualcomm Snapdragon 7 Gen 1 chipset with 6GB of RAM and only 128GB of internal storage.
The outer display of the Libero Flip houses two camera sensors, namely a 50MP primary unit as well as a 2MP depth sensor. Up front, the inner screen rocks a 16MP selfie shooter, although you can also use the main camera for self portraits using the small external screen. Powering the foldable is a 4,310mAh battery with support for 33W charging. As for protection, the phone comes with IP42-rated dust and water resistance.
The Libero Flip is available in three colour options and retails in Japan for 63,000 Yen (~RM2,008). As of now, the company has not announced plans to bring its clamshell phone to other markets.
