Huawei has announced via its official Weibo account that the Pocket 2, the successor to the two-year-old P50 Pocket, will launch in China on 22 February 2024. While the company itself has yet to reveal the new compact foldable smartphone, renders of its alleged design have already appeared online ahead of the launch, courtesy of leakster Fixed Focus Digital on Weibo.
Based on what’s shown, the upcoming Huawei Pocket 2 looks almost identical to its predecessor, featuring two vertically arranged circles on its top cover. The circle above houses the phone’s triple camera setup, while an external display is situated beneath it. The leak also revealed that it will be offered in at least three colourways: metallic black, purple leather (likely vegan) and marble white.
As for specifications, rumour has it that the upcoming compact foldable will be equipped with a first-party Kirin 9000S chipset and, potentially, a larger battery capacity. Unfortunately, details of its camera setup and other features are still a mystery at this time.
In any case, expect Huawei to reveal more about the Pocket 2 during the official launch this Thursday. Whether or not the phone will be available outside of China after that remains to be seen.
