vivo today has confirmed that its latest entry-level smartphone, the vivo Y100 5G, is slated to arrive in Malaysia soon. According to the brand’s official website, the device’s specifications match its counterpart in Indonesia which launched earlier in January this year.
To recap, the vivo Y100 5G offers a 6.67-inch AMOLED display with 2400 x 1080 pixel resolution, 120Hz refresh rate, and a peak brightness of 1,200 nits. Additionally, it features an in-display fingerprint scanner, which is often a rarity for smartphones of this class.
Also onboard are dual nano SIM slots with microSD support and stereo loudspeakers, while the device itself is rated IP54 in dust and splash resistance. vivo’s website adds that the Y100 5G will be available in two colour options: Purple Leather and Crystal Black.
Internally, it has a Qualcomm Snapdragon 4 Gen 2 chipset, as well as a single memory configuration consisting of 8GB RAM and 256GB storage. Meanwhile, the phone also features a 5,000mAh battery with 80W fast charging via USB-C, Android 14 via Funtouch 14, along with NFC, dual-band Wi-Fi and Bluetooth 5.0 connectivity.
For photography, on the back of the Y100 5G is a dual camera setup helmed by a 50MP primary sensor, which is paired with an 8MP ultra-wide. In front, housed within the top-centred cutout on its display is an 8MP selfie camera.
vivo has yet to reveal the release date and pricing for the Y100 5G in Malaysia. For your reference, the phone debuted in Indonesia at IDR3,899,000 (~RM1,180).
