Last month, the Bose Ultra Open Earbuds launched as part of a collaboration with fashion brand Kith. More recently, the company has announced the launch of its open earbuds in a more independent manner, providing a little more in terms of specs as well in the process.
Previously, the co-branded version of the Bose Ultra Open Earbuds was announced with an IPX4 rating, as well as a few battery life figures. These were 7.5 hours at base, with an additional 19.5 hours provided by the case. These look to be unchanged, with this more recent announcement also mentioning a one-hour charge time from empty to full.
Also mentioned this rime around for the Bose Ultra Open Earbuds are some tech on the audio side. The list includes Qualcomm aptX Adaptive as part of Snapdragon Sound, Google Fast Pair and Bluetooth 5.3 connectivity. There’s also the brand’s SimpleSync tech, allowing it to be paired certain other audio products from the brand.
Aesthetically, despite coming in an additional colour option, the Bose Ultra Open Earbuds looks a bit bland compared to its Kith iteration. Understandable considering that was a special edition, but these earphones could have easily had the company’s branding where the fashion brand was, rather than it being oddly empty the way it is.
At any rate, this announcement of the Bose Ultra Open Earbuds comes with a price tag of US$299 (~RM1,428), which is practically the same price as its Kith limited edition variant. This would suggest that the previously seen price of RM1,650 may stick as well when they become available locally. And that is likely a matter of time because these earbuds have already made their appearance in the SIRM database.
