Keretapi Tanah Melayu Berhad (KTMB) has announced a price adjustment for the Shuttle Tebrau train service. The route, which travels between JB Sentral and Woodlands, Singapore, will cost RM5 for a one-way fare from either destinations starting 1 August 2024, but only for Malaysians.
Currently, the Shuttle Tebrau service costs RM5 for a one-way ticket if you are travelling from JB Sentral and S$5(RM17.95) if you are departing from Woodlands. The only way to save money is to pay the round-trip fare that costs a total of RM10, instead of purchasing the one-way tickets separately.
With the rate readjustment, you no longer need to buy a round-trip ticket in order to get the lower fare. As mentioned above, the RM5 one-way pricing from Singapore is only applicable for Malaysians, and as such, it will require you to first verify your identity card in order to enjoy it.
Malaysian commuters must register for a KITS account and verify their citizenship through a ticket kiosk or ticket counter at any KTMB station. To ensure that this process goes smoothly, the train operator will be opening additional counters at JB Sentral from 19 February to 1 March. On that note, the readjusted Shuttle Tebrau tickets can be purchased starting 29 February.
