Xiaomi has officially launched the Redmi A3, its newest addition to the affordable sub-brand. The new entry-level phone brings vibrant glass and faux-leather designs at an extremely low price tag while still providing basic necessities such as a USB-C hub and a fingerprint scanner.
The Redmi A3 sports a 6.71-inch 720p LCD display with a 90Hz refresh rate as well as Corning Gorilla Glass 3 for protection. It runs on a MediaTek Helio G36 chipset with up to 6GB of RAM and a maximum storage configuration of 128GB with a microSD card slot for expansion. For connectivity, it supports Bluetooth 5.3, Wi-Fi 5, and is equipped with a 3.5mm headphone jack.
On the imaging side, the budget device features an 8MP primary camera on the back along with an unnamed secondary lens that is likely a depth sensor, whereas the front notch houses a 5MP selfie snapper. Powering the smartphone is a 5,000mAh battery with support for 10W charging.
The Redmi A3 retails starting from INR7,299 (~RM420) for the base 3GB+64GB model and goes all the way to INR9,299 (~RM535) for the 6GB+128GB configuration. While Xiaomi has yet to announce local availability, the phone will likely be coming here soon as it has already been listed on the SIRIM database.
