E3 is well and truly and physically dead at this point but IGN appears intent to keep the spirit of the expo alive. To that end, the video game and entertainment media site announced that it plans on hosting its version of the event this June.
In a press release released earlier, IGN says it wants to host a three-day event, just like E3, in the city of LA sometime in early June. “Visitors will have access to world-class talent, parties, networking opportunities and unique attractions from a curated list of leading exhibitors across gaming and entertainment. Fans can see their favourite IGN shows live, take part in tournaments, get first looks at highly anticipated new releases and secure front-row seats at panels featuring headliners from games, television, movies and more”
IGN also says that the desire to host an E3-like event arose from fans and partners voicing their demands for a place where the community could gather and then share in both the tech and gaming industry’s latest and upcoming innovations. At the same time, it will stream its event, dubbed IGN Live, across console and mobile apps, for those who are unable to physically attend the event itself.
“Fans and partners have voiced their demand for a physical space where the community can come together in person to celebrate the industry’s most exciting innovations. L.A. was an obvious choice. It is home to some of the world’s top gaming and entertainment talent and creators. We are already experiencing the enthusiasm from publishers, partners and leadership in Los Angeles who look forward to delivering a world-class experience to the IGN community in DTLA at IGN Live 2024.”
