Samsung has quietly announced that support for some Galaxy AI features will be making their way to the brand’s more recent audio accessories, namely the Galaxy Buds2 series and Galaxy Buds FE. According to a press note distributed to media outlets in India, as spotted by Gizmochina and tech enthusiast Ishan Agarwal, the features in question include Live Translation and Interpretation.
“Users can directly speak into the Buds mic and their translated voice will now be available via the Galaxy S24 series enabling near-natural conversation between two individuals each holding Galaxy S24 series smartphone and Galaxy Buds respectively, eliminating the need to hand over the phone and manage translated talking,” Samsung said in the press note.
The Galaxy AI’s Live Translation feature allows users to make a phone call to someone speaking another language, translating spoken words in real-time through the built-in microphone on supported Galaxy Buds models. Meanwhile, Interpretation functions more or less the same, but intended for in-person conversations.
Both features will also display the translated conversation in text on the paired smartphone’s screen. On that note, you are required to have the brand’s latest flagship smartphones in order for this to work, as the Galaxy AI system is still exclusive to the Galaxy S24 series for the time being. Samsung adds that both tools are handled on-device, so an active internet connection is not needed. However, you will have to download the language packs in advance.
Live Translation and Interpretation are currently rolling out for the Galaxy Buds2 series and Galaxy Buds FE in India first at this time. It is expected that this update will arrive to other markets soon.
