The recent rumours being churned out of the mill hints at AMD possibly planning to reveal its next-generation RDNA4 GPUs sometime at the end of this year. Specifically, the Navi 48 and 44.
These rumours come by way of the popular TechTuber, Moore’s Law is Dead (MLID), who alleges that Navi 48 could be as fast and powerful as the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4080, based on its supposed die size of 397mm2. As for the Navi 44, they believe that the RDNA4 GPU would likely be on par with the mid-range RTX 4060 Ti, with its die size not expected to exceed 210mm2.
Circling back to Navi 48, the RDNA4 GPU is also rumoured to feature 256-bit memory, allowing to run with GGDR6 VRAM frequencies of 20Gbps or faster, lending further credence to the idea that the graphics card housing it may very well be as powerful as the RTX 4080. Not only that, but other rumours coming out of the mill suggest that these GPUs will be able to run at clockspeeds between 3GHz and 3.5GHz, and will have monolithic dies based on TSMC’s 5nm N4P process.
Fun fact, Intel’s next-generation ARC Battlemage architecture will also reportedly be based around the same process node and unlike the current Alchemist lineup, it will ship out with an enthusiast-class SKU.
That’s all we have regarding the alleged RDNA4 GPUs. As it is the nature of all rumours, these alleged details are not yet set in stone, nor have they been confirmed by AMD. So, again, you’re going to need to take this news with a healthy dose of skepticism for the time being.
