Huawei has yet to announce a successor to last year’s Band 8 but despite that, we found evidence that the company is already working on the Band 9. Just two days ago, the Band 9 received approval from SIRIM, hinting at its imminent launch in Malaysia.
The Band 9 was listed on 6 February 2024 with the model number KIM-B19. Unfortunately, there are currently no leaks or rumours regarding the device, so it is unknown what improvements we will see in the upcoming smart band. Last year’s iteration was only an incremental update with a slightly revised design but largely the same specs, so it would not be much of a surprise if the new version came no significant upgrades.
For reference, the Band 8 sports a 1.47-inch AMOLED display with a single home button and flat edges around the chassis. It has sensors for monitoring your heart rate, blood oxygen levels, stress, menstrual cycle, and more, with 100 workout modes to choose from to track your activities.
On the battery life, the smart band can last up to 14 days with normal usage and three days with the always-on display enabled. The 5 ATM water-resistant device also enabled music controls and a camera shutter button for your phone via Bluetooth.
