Users who’ve somehow forgotten their Apple Vision Pro passcode are required to bring the device to an Apple Store in order to reset it. According to Bloomberg, the process involves the use of a specialised tool that’s not available to the public.
The code in question is similar to passwords or PIN codes used for unlocking your smartphone. On that note, the Apple Vision Pro uses a new biometric system called Optic ID that scans the user’s eyes for verification, but will eventually ask for the registered code after a restart or if it has not been used after a while. As noted by Bloomberg, entering the wrong passcode too many times will result in the headset locking the user out, and a waiting period applies before they are able to try again.
Should the user forget their password, the only way to resolve this is by bringing the Vision Pro to an Apple Store in order to have it resetted. Bloomberg adds that the process will involve the use of a tool called the Developer Strap, which is only available to staff as well as developers. Alternatively, users can opt to send in the US$3,499 (~RM16,676) headset to an AppleCare service centre via mail if they’re unable to deliver it to the brand’s stores personally.
Another thing to note is that the process itself will be factory reset, meaning that all data stored on the Vision Pro will be erased completely. This shouldn’t be an issue if you’ve managed to sync the headset to your iCloud account, though you might still lose certain things that weren’t backed up.
