Last week, Huawei quietly unveiled the Nova Y72 on its global website, which is speculated to be a rebranded Enjoy 70 that was launched in China back in December. While the phone has not been announced for the Malaysian market yet, it has already appeared on the SIRIM database.
Certified on 21 December 2023 with the model number MGA-LX3, the newly-launched device’s listing hints of an imminent local launch. The brand’s spec sheet states that it comes with 8GB of RAM and up to 256GB of storage, although it is possible that we could see different configurations being offered with the local variant.
Under the hood, the website does not list the chipset powering the Nova Y72, but if it shares the same specs as the Enjoy 70, than we can assume that it runs on the Kirin 710A chip from 2020. For the battery, it boasts a huge capacity of 6,000mAh with a charging speed of 22.5W.
As for the display, the phone sports a 6.75-inch 720p LCD display with a standard refresh rate of 60Hz. Imaging-wise, the Nova Y72 features a 50MP primary camera alongside a 2MP macro lens as well as an 8MP selfie snapper up front.
The Nova Y72 has a starting price of ZAR4,999 (~RM1,255) in South Africa in green and black colour options. As of now, there is no word on when exactly the phone will be making its way here.
