Less than two weeks ago, vivo launched the Y100 in Indonesia, its third iteration of the entry-level smartphone. While the brand has not announced the arrival of the phone in Malaysia, we will most likely be seeing it here soon given that it has already been certified by SIRIM.
Listed with the model number V2327, the Y100 gained local certification on 30 January 2024. While there are currently three different variations of the device, the Malaysian variant will likely share similar specs with its Indonesian counterpart as the two sport the same model number.
If our assumption is correct, we can expect the Y100 here to feature a 6.67-inch 120Hz AMOLED display with a peak brightness of 1,200 nits. Internally, the phone will run on a Qualcomm Snapdragon 4 Gen 2 chipset with 8GB of RAM, 256GB of storage, and a microSD card slot for expansion.
Powering the Y100 will be a 5,000mAh battery with support for 80W charging. On the photography side, the smartphone will offer a 50MP main camera, an 8MP ultra-wide lens, and an 8MP selfie shooter.
The Y100 retails with a starting price of IDR3,899,000 (~RM1,180) in Indonesia, so we will likely see similar pricing for the local market. For now, we’ll have to wait for the company to announce the Malaysian launch to find out more.
