We’ve already seen plenty of reports about Apple potentially releasing a foldable product, with an analyst claiming back in 2022 that it will happen as soon as this year. For now, that doesn’t seem like it will turn out that way, but that doesn’t stop new reports from providing new time frames as to when that is happening. More recently, Korean outlet The Elec cites industry insiders that claim that there will be an Apple foldable appearing as soon as early 2026.
More specifically, the report notes the range as 2026-2027 at the earliest, with the device measuring between the high 7- to low 8-inch range. Interestingly, the report also notes that this foldable may be replacing the iPad mini in the market. Also noted as part of the report is the display arms of both Samsung and LG sending foldable screen samples of similar sizes to the fruit company last year.
This does conflict with a prior report by fellow Korean outlet ETNews, which claimed back in November last year that 2026 will see a significant refresh for the small tablet line. Not only is it reportedly getting an upsize from 8.3 to 8.7 inches, Apple is also giving it OLED screens.
On this front, The Elec suggests that the iPad mini will be getting its OLED refresh this year instead. Which would be great if the claim is accurate, though the report does not mention of the iPad Air which is claimed to be getting a 12.9-inch model in addition to the existing 10.9-inch model at around the same time as the mini refresh.
