HMD has recently updated its official website, reintroducing itself as a key smartphone manufacturer in Europe. In case you missed it, the company previously revealed plans to release its own self-branded devices, independent of any involvement by its long-time partner, Nokia.
Teasers featuring these products can be found throughout the updated website, with at least three different smartphone designs shown. One is revealed to feature a rounded frame with a dual camera setup on its back, the second design has a flat frame with rounded corners and dual rear cameras, while the last one shares a similar form factor as the last but has a triple camera setup instead. All three are depicted sporting bright colours, which could be a hint of the company’s new direction.
Unfortunately, HMD has yet to provide any further details regarding its self-branded products, so their specifications will remain a mystery for now. However, the company did promise that its upcoming devices will still emphasise on toughness, ease-to-repair, security and affordability, while its About Us page also mentions of developing phones from all-new partnerships.
Speaking of which, HMD’s new focus won’t spell the end for Nokia smartphones, or at least not yet. Currently, the manufacturer still owns the rights to the Finnish tech giant’s branding, though the licence is due to expire in 2026. As stated in its website, HMD will continue to produce Nokia smartphones and feature phones alongside its own, as well as provide support for them throughout their warranty periods.
