Local e-hailing firm Maxim has announced a new feature for its driver-partners called “Auto”. The feature will automatically accept ride requests from passengers, allowing drivers to fulfil orders more efficiently by reducing the gaps in between rides.
The company says that the auto assignment tool increases the number of orders per day and it even has an incentive for drivers to use it. According to Maxim, drivers who use the auto feature will be subjected to lower commission rates and with the increased number of orders, it enables them to make more money.
Of course, the platform isn’t forcing Auto on drivers and it says that they can choose to turn the feature off entirely. It is unclear whether or not the feature is enabled by default. Mohd Hazwan, the company’s director, opines that many driver prefer to have the feature turned on to earn more money and receive trips that are nearby.
Maxim isn’t the only e-hailing player in the country to offer such a method to increase efficiency. Grab, the top player in the market, also has an optional auto accept feature for drivers, offering those who enable it a lower commission rate of 20% as well as priority allocation.
