HONOR may soon be launching a new tablet into the Malaysian market as new listing hints at the imminent arrival of the Pad 9. Launched last month in China, the Pad 9 is a mid-range tablet that comes in a standard and “Soft Light” version. It has already been certified in Singapore and the UAE and while the tablet itself has yet to make an appearance in Malaysia’s local database, one of its accessories has.
Listed on 18 January 2024, the HONOR Pad 9 Smart Bluetooth Keyboard received SIRIM certification with the model number Hendry2-keyboard. Given that this Bluetooth keyboard is an accessory specifically for the tablet, it is likely that its local availability will be announced alongside the Pad 9 instead of being a standalone product.
This tablet sports a 12.1-inch 2560×1600 LCD display with a 120Hz refresh rate, a peak brightness of 550 nits, and a paper-like matte finish for a glare-free experience. It runs on a Qualcomm Snapdragon 6 Gen 1 chipset and is powered by an 8,300mAh battery that supports 35W charging.
On the imaging side, it has a 13MP sensor on the back while the front houses an 8MP snapper. Additionally, the Pad 9 runs on MagicOS 7.2 based on Android 13 out of the box and contains a total of eight speakers for content consumption. No details on local pricing yet but for context, the tablet retails from CNY1,499 (~RM988) in its home market.
