Nothing is expected to unveil a new phone next month reportedly dubbed the Phone (2a). While the company has not confirmed anything regarding the device, we now know that the upcoming smartphone will more than likely arrive in Malaysia soon after its initial launch as it recently received SIRIM certification.
A device with the model number A142 under the Nothing brand was listed on the SIRIM database on 22 January. This is the same model number that appeared on the smartphone’s listing on the TUV certification website. The Phone (2a) is rumoured to debut at the Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2024, which will be taking place from 26 to 29 February.
While the company has kept mum over the phone’s specs, leakster Yogesh Bar shared some of the Phone (2a)’s alleged details. If the leak is to be believed, then we can expect the upcoming device to sport a 120Hz OLED display with a redesigned Glyph on the back and run on a MediaTek Dimensity 7200 chipset paired with 8GB of RAM and 128GB of storage.
The camera setup will purportedly be made up of two 50MP sensors just like the Phone (2) while on the software side, it will ship with Nothing OS 2.5 based on Android 14. From the TUV listing, it is confirmed that the Phone (2a) will retain the 45W charging speed but will likely omit wireless charging support.
