Apple is set to unveil new models of iPad Air, iPad Pro, and MacBook Air around the end of March, according to Mark Gurman. In his latest newsletter, the Bloomberg journalist is following up on his previous report from last month, noting that production is already in progress for the new iPad Pro models and a new 13-inch MacBook Air within Apple’s supply chain in Asia.
The upcoming iPad Air series is anticipated to introduce a new 12.9-inch display size alongside an updated 10.9-inch model. Speculations for the next-gen models include the incorporation of Apple’s M2 chip for enhanced performance, a redesigned rear camera bump, support for Wi-Fi 6E, and Bluetooth 5.3. However, no significant external design changes are expected.
As for the next-gen 11-inch and 13-inch iPad Pro models, they are widely expected to be the first iPads featuring OLED displays, which would bring improvements such as increased brightness, more vibrant colors, higher contrast ratio, lower power consumption, and other advantages compared to current models with LCD panels. Due to this transition, the next-gen models are also expected to be priced higher than its predecessors.
Additional expected features for the next iPad Pro models include Apple’s latest M3 chip for improved performance, MagSafe wireless charging, a redesigned Magic Keyboard with a larger trackpad and aluminum top casing, and a front camera oriented in landscape mode. Changes in the rear camera design, similar to those on the next iPad Air models, are also rumored.
Lastly, Gurman adds the next iteration of 13-inch and 15-inch MacBook Air models are expected to be introduced simultaneously in March this year. The primary highlight for the new laptops will be Apple’s latest M3 chip, which will bring hardware-accelerated ray tracing and mesh shading for enhanced graphics rendering in games, including more accurate lighting, reflections, and shadows. No major design changes are expected for the MacBook Air this year, but it is likely to gain support for Wi-Fi 6E, aligning with other Mac devices.
As of late, the Bloomberg journalist has an excellent track record in uncovering details regarding Apple’s upcoming and unannounced releases. However, as usual, we recommend to take the information provided with a pinch of salt, as there’s still room for potential inaccuracies.
