The R00TK1T group, which is known for it’s sophisticated cyber intrusions and software exploits that generally target governmental organizations and private sectors worldwide has issued a warning that Malaysia will be their next target of attack.
In the thinly veiled warning message which we sighted on the group official telegram channel, goes on to claim that “the countdown to chaos has begun” and “Malaysia, prepare for the storm that will leave you shattered and vulnerable”. Exactly what is the threat and why Malaysia is targeted is not addressed in the message.
Security solutions provider iZoologic also independently confirmed that the threat was also posted on a dark web platform quite possible at the same time the above message was published on Telegram.
iZoologic also confirms that This hacking group, infamous for its covert operations, has previously targeted financial institutions, government databases, and multinational corporations. Their methods involve exploiting software vulnerabilities, deploying malware, and executing sophisticated phishing attacks.
